The Training School “Sustainable Marine Governance in the Mediterranean” will be held from 5 to 10 May. It is organized by UNEP/MAP and the MEPIELANCentre, in cooperation with the EPLO.
This week-long online Training School offers a unique, integrated platformfor knowledge exchange, discussion, and capacity-building in sustainable environmental governance within the framework of the Barcelona Convention.

It is an educational initiative aligned with:

  1. The Barcelona Convention System for the Protection of the Marine and Coastal Environment of the Mediterranean;
  2. The Mediterranean Strategy on Sustainable Development (MSSD);
  3. The UNEP/MAP Medium-Term Strategy 2022–2027.

The course adopts an interactive approach to learning through a user-friendly teaching platform and aims to develop knowledge of interdisciplinary methodologies, an understanding of processes, and innovative approaches to sustainable governance within the UNEP/MAP Barcelona Convention system.

It also seeks to explore the interconnections between environmental law, environmental governance, political science, ecology, technology, biological sciences, climate science, economics, and social sciences.
The Training School will be conducted by anetwork of eminent academics, distinguished experts, decision-makers, and practitioners from international organizations and prestigious academic institutions, all collaborating to address critical issues related to environmental governance and sustainability in the Mediterranean region.
