INFO/RAC participated in the Third Annual Stocktaking Meeting of the MedProgramme, which was held from April 8 to 10, 2025, in Istanbul.The meeting is part of the Global Environment Facility-funded Mediterranean Sea Programme“Enhancing Environmental Security” (GEF ID 9607) and was organized by UNEP/MAP in cooperation with the implementing agencies UNEP and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as the implementing partners of the eight smaller MedProgramme projects (plus FishEBM).
This year’s theme, “The MedProgramme: Greater than the Sum of its Parts” guided the discussions. The focus was on exploring how a ripple effect can be created through greater collaboration between projects, countries, and sectors. The principal theme of the three days of the meeting was:Integration is an art, Putting the pieces together, Closing the circle.
Annalisa Minelli,Knowledge Management Officer at INFO/RACand co-responsible for the development of the Knowledge Management Platform of UNEP/MAP, participated in Session 4, “Open Circle Discussion” on April 10.During this session,guided by Jenner Guzmann, Knowledge Management lead of the GEF (Global Environment Facility),emergend some interesting remarks such as how best to communicate the results and data contained in the Med’s KMP, how best to use the tools it offers.
But also the importance of correctly attributing data, associating the right licence, disseminating reliable data, etc. Another topic was the importance of implementing the MAP data policy, and how to identify who should take charge of this dissemination action, i.e. the knowledge brokers. This session was a collective reflectionon how the MedProgramme is contributing to global environmental governance and sustainable development. It assessed the effectiveness and relevance of the approaches and tools applied within the MedProgramme.
