The MedProgramme Outreach Workshop, held in Tirana on 21–22 April and organized by GWP Med under Child Project 2.2 following the WEFE NEXUS consultation meeting, represented an important opportunity for exchange to strengthen the visibility, replicability, and outreach of MedProgramme activities in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
The main objective of the meeting is to identify a priority list of actions, aligned with the results of the Child Projects and with other ongoing initiatives in the three countries, in the fields of Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Integrated Water Resources Management, Chemicals and Waste, Climate Change Adaptation, Biodiversity Protection, and the Blue Economy, with strong potential for replication and upscaling, including at transboundary level.
During Session 2 “MedProgramme Success Stories from the Mediterranean region“, representatives of several regional and international organizations participated, sharing experiences and best practices from across the Mediterranean.
In this context, Annalisa Minelli, Knowledge Management Officer at INFO/RAC, took part in the session, presenting the data policy dissemination activities developed under Child Project 1.1. Her intervention highlighted the importance of leveraging existing tools such as the UNEP-MAP Data Policy and the KMaP platform, while promoting the adoption of the most advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, in full respect of countries’ data sovereignty.
All of this is framed within a broader vision of digital transformation, understood not only as technological innovation but as a true paradigm shift.
As highlighted by Annalisa Minelli “Digital Transformation represents a mindset characterized by proactivity, responsiveness to latest technologies, and efficiency in problem solving while identifying the best technical solution to complex problems.”
