Plan Bleu extends its Call for Papers dedicated to Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and Culture-Based Solutions (CbS/SfC), with particular attention to their role in strengthening health and climate resilience in the Mediterranean. Contributions can be submitted until 11 September 2026.

The call is open to researchers, university professors, professionals, consultants, representatives of public institutions, civil society organisations and experts engaged in topics related to nature-based and culture-based solutions, climate resilience, public health, sustainable urban development, environmental governance and ecosystem restoration in Mediterranean countries that are Contracting Parties to the Mediterranean Action Plan of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP/MAP).

Participants are invited to submit scientific and interdisciplinary contributions capable of providing knowledge, evidence and perspectives useful for informing public policies and climate adaptation strategies.

All contributions must include analyses based on concrete data and propose operational and relevant recommendations for policy-makers. Contributions adopting different methodological approaches and analytical perspectives are encouraged, including regional and multinational studies, comparative analyses and local case studies.

By way of example, but not limited to, contributions may address the following thematic areas:

  • Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and Culture-Based Solutions (CbS/SfC) for public health;
  • Climate adaptation and urban resilience;
  • Governance, participation and social equity;
  • Evaluation methods, indicators and monitoring systems;
  • Mediterranean case studies and comparative approaches;
  • Financing of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and Culture-Based Solutions through blended finance instruments.

The objective of the Call is to support high-quality research and policy analysis aimed at understanding how nature-based and culture-based solutions can contribute to improving health outcomes and strengthening climate resilience in Mediterranean cities.

A key priority of the call is to address current geographical knowledge gaps, particularly by promoting research focused on the southern and eastern Mediterranean coastal areas and encouraging interregional comparative analyses capable of providing an integrated understanding of dynamics at the Mediterranean basin level.

New deadline: 11 September 2026.
