The new School-to-Work Training Program (PFSL), formerly known as PCTO, officially began on March 18. Titled A Lesson in Environmental Governance: Discovering Actions for the Mediterranean Sea and Its Coasts, the program is organized by the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) and promoted by the Regional Activity Centre for Information and Communication (INFO/RAC).
Now in its fourth edition, the course is attended by 18 students from the Vito Volterra State Scientific High School in Ciampino (Rome), who will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the roles and functions of key international and national institutions involved in environmental protection.

Topics covered include UNEP/MAP, the Barcelona Convention, the European Environment Agency (EEA), the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA), the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE), the decision-making mechanisms of the Conference of the Parties (COP) negotiations, the Mediterranean Regional Activity Centres and their activities, with particular focus on the INFO/RAC Centre.

The program consists of a total of 22 hours of training, during which students will have the opportunity to meet representatives from INFO/RAC and the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE).
Theoretical lessons will be complemented by workshops designed to encourage the production of educational materials on the main topics covered during the course.

Among this year’s new features is the creation of GAMed, the first game dedicated to actions for the protection of the Mediterranean Sea and its coasts. The game is inspired by the traditional “Game of the Goose,” in which participants progress through concepts and terminology related to the themes addressed in the training program. It will be developed with the active contribution of the students, who will play a key role in all stages of its creation and will be involved throughout the entire training process.

Finally, on May 22, 2026, an Info-Day will be held at the high school, during which students will share what they have learned and developed with their peers, also through the GAMed game.
