The European Ocean Days will take place in Brussels starting on 2 March. Over the course of one week, the event will host a series of meetings focused on key ocean-related issues.
Now in its third edition and inspired by the European Ocean Pact, the initiative will bring together industry leaders, start-ups, investors, policymakers, scientists, SMEs, representatives from fisheries and aquaculture, islands and coastal communities, the Ocean and Waters Mission community, and civil society, including young people. Participants will engage in consultations, roundtables, workshops and community events aimed at exchanging ideas, discussing future challenges, scaling up innovative solutions and defining a shared path towards concrete actions in support of the implementation of the European Ocean Pact.
The programme includes the panel “The European Ocean Pact: current state and perspectives”, bringing together representatives of the European Commission services to present ocean-related initiatives under the Pact; Marine knowledge for ocean health; two panels dedicated to Ocean Observation and to data and digital applications for achieving Good Environmental Status; the 4th Ocean and Waters Mission Forum, which will review progress and key achievements while mobilising stakeholders involved in the implementation phase; and “From actions to impact: monitoring the progress of the Mission”, a workshop focusing on monitoring frameworks and impact assessments of Ocean and Waters Mission activities at project, lighthouse and EU level.
The European Ocean Days will conclude with a networking session, offering participants the opportunity to mark a week of collaboration, exchange ideas, strengthen relationships and initiate new partnerships for the future of the ocean.
