Applications are open for the WestMED Project Awards 2025, the international competition whose objective is to highlight and reward outstanding success stories, which offer innovative and replicable solutions in line with the vision of the WestMED initiative for the Western Mediterranean.
Organized by the WestMED Steering Committee, with the support of the WestMED Assistance Mechanism, the 2025 edition of the Project Awards includes four categories based on the priorities of the Western Mediterranean Roadmap:
• Sustainable Consumption and Production
• Biodiversity, Marine Habitat Conservation and Maritime Spatial Planning
• Maritime Clusters
• Blue Skills and Ocean Literacy


To be eligible, projects must be carried out within the geographical area of the Western Mediterranean: Algeria, France, Italy, Libya, Malta, Mauritania, Morocco, Portugal, Spain and Tunisia, and must have been started and/or completed within 36 months prior to the publication of the call.
Among the prizes: the opportunity to present the project with a pitch, a coaching session with experts from the National Hub for project expansion, access to the EU strategic networks in the sea basins: Western Mediterranean, Atlantic and Black Sea, and visibility through the WestMED communication channels.
Applications may be submitted by individuals, organizations, businesses, groups, networks, consortia or institutions. Any type of funded project (at local, regional, national or European level, with public and/or private funds) that has been delivered or is being delivered within the WestMED geographical area is eligible.

The winners will be announced during the WestMED Stakeholders Conference on 28 November 2025 in Tunis.

The WestMED Project Awards is an initiative designed to recognize excellent projects that are in line with the priorities of the WestMED Initiative. Now in its third edition, the initiative has already allowed winners of previous editions to benefit from wide visibility and new development opportunities.
