Digital Campaign to highlight Mediterranean Action at UNOC3 2025

As part of the third edition of the United Nations Ocean Conference, which will be held in Nice from June 9 to 13, a thematic day will be dedicated to the Mediterranean basin and the challenges linked to the effects of climate change in this particularly vulnerable region.
This multi-stakeholder event will bring together national and regional political authorities, international organizations, development banks, businesses, civil society, NGOs, and research centers through a series of panels focusing on key cooperation priorities.

Coordinated by the Délégation Interministérielle à la Méditerranée (DIMED), the Mediterranean Day will take place on Tuesday, June 10, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen (CUM) in Nice. The MED Day will focus particularly on decentralized cooperation, the blue economy, and civil society climate action.

On this occasion, the “Odyssey Reloaded” campaign will be presented — a pan-Mediterranean digital campaign celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Barcelona Convention through a constellation of events across the Mediterranean Sea.

The Odyssey Reloaded initiative serves as a network of routes across the Mediterranean, navigated by a “virtual MAP ship” that spreads a message and call to action for a healthy Mediterranean Sea and its coasts, which are essential to sustainable development.

This digital campaign aims to raise awareness, foster dialogue, amplify youth engagement, and catalyze the convergence of ideas and initiatives.
By providing opportunities for engagement with senior officials and policymakers in participating countries, the campaign also supports the implementation of obligations under the Barcelona Convention and its protocols, as well as other relevant multilateral environmental agreements — echoing the strong message of the COP 23 ministerial declaration: “from decisions to action.”

Odyssey Reloaded is supported by a dedicated website, developed by INFO/RAC, featuring an interactive map of the Mediterranean highlighting the cities and ports involved in the initiative.
