The award recognizing the resilience of Mediterranean ports

Promoting safer, more sustainable ports capable of addressing the challenges of the future: this is the objective of the Award for Mediterranean Port Resilience, an initiative promoted by the MEDPorts Association in collaboration with the Union for the Mediterranean.

The award is dedicated to commercial seaports in the Mediterranean region that have developed and implemented concrete measures, projects and strategies aimed at strengthening their capacity to adapt and respond to the transformations affecting the maritime and logistics sector.

Applications may be submitted by port authorities and port management entities that meet the eligibility requirements set out in the award regulations.

A new vision for Mediterranean ports

The initiative was established with the ambition of affirming resilience as a strategic element for the development of Mediterranean port systems, promoting investment in sustainable, flexible infrastructure capable of responding to the new demands of international trade.

The award also aims to highlight the most significant experiences developed by ports in the areas of business continuity, emergency management, technological innovation, energy transition and environmental protection, fostering cooperation among ports across the region and encouraging the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

The ultimate objective is to recognize those ports that contribute to making the Mediterranean an increasingly connected, stable and competitive region, supporting the security of supply chains and regional economic integration.

The main award and special categories

The main award will be presented as the Mediterranean Most Resilient Port of the Year, recognizing the port that has demonstrated the highest overall level of resilience through effective initiatives, investments and strategies.

The jury may also confer special awards to recognize outstanding achievements, including initiatives dedicated to climate adaptation, digital transformation and cybersecurity, energy transition and the development of green ports, crisis management, business continuity, multimodal connectivity and the integration of logistics chains.

Special attention will also be given to small and medium-sized ports through the Emerging Resilient Port Award, designed to recognize emerging ports distinguished by their innovation and capacity to adapt.
