The contrast between the dry earth and the turquoise waters of Lake Burdur, a grasshopper resting in perfect balance, or the work of divers recovering a net full of marine waste: these are some of the winning images of the “Environment&Me 2025” competition.
Announcing the results is the European Environment Agency (EEA), which last March launched the competition aimed at representing the personal connection with the environment.

Structured into three thematic categories, plus a youth prize and a public choice award, the competition saw the participation of 1,800 entries from 36 countries. Among these, 42 finalists were selected and finally 5 winners. This year’s edition saw a great deal of participation across Europe, with Spain and Italy leading the way, together representing almost a third of all entries. Türkiye, Germany, and Portugal also ranked among the main contributors, showing strong engagement throughout Southern and Central Europe.

The three prizes for the thematic categories — Blue, Green, and Orange — and the Youth Prize were awarded to photographs from Sweden and Spain.
The winners of the BLUE, Green, and Orange categories are “Bridge over troubled water” by Ola Karlsson, “King of hearts” by Pepe Badia Marrero, and “Work commitment” by Kristýna Koubková. The Youth Prize is “Under the surface” by Henrique Biasi, while the Public Choice Award is “Flapping its wings against drought” by Fatih Yilmaz.
