Plan Bleu publishes the “Practical Guide to the Climagine Methodology for ICZM Professionals”, a tool dedicated to professionals in Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) who wish to adopt a participatory approach to the sustainable planning of coastal territories.
Climagine brings together the stakeholders of a territory — public authorities, the scientific community, civil society, local communities and the private sector — to build together visions and pathways towards sustainable futures for Mediterranean coasts.

The guide brings together more than a decade of field experience and highlights some key lessons: strengthening local ownership, adapting the process to data availability and to the specificities of governance systems and, above all, bridging the gap between the recommendations developed and their concrete implementation.

The new guide proposes a step-by-step operational approach that accompanies professionals from process preparation and stakeholder identification through to scenario building and the definition of concrete actions:

🔹 Understanding and analysing the territorial context and the main challenges
🔹 Identifying sustainability indicators suited to local realities
🔹 Exploring alternative scenarios and defining a “Balance Band”, that is, an operational space within which to pursue sustainable development
🔹 Building consensus on priority adaptation actions
🔹 Moving from foresight to action, integrating financial, institutional and regulatory aspects from the outset
