Pavel Goldin is the new Vice President of the ACCOBAMS Scientific Committee for the three-year period 2026–2028
An expert on cetaceans of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, Pavel has dedicated his career to the study of marine mammals, with research ranging from anatomy and evolution to ontogeny and population dynamics, up to the paleontology of fossil whales.

Full Professor and Principal Researcher at the Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology, he has contributed to numerous international projects, also standing out for his commitment to documenting the impacts of war on marine life.

Pavel Goldin said, “I am honored and deeply moved to serve as Vice Chair of the ACCOBAMS Scientific Committee. Science is the honest basis for protecting cetaceans and their habitats. Whales and dolphins are keystones of entire marine ecosystems. If they are in trouble, the whole sea is in trouble.”
